Why PDFKilo

Fully private

Ghostscript runs in WebAssembly on your device. Not a single byte of your file reaches a server.

Accurate estimate

Before compressing, we sample the first pages and show the expected size for the chosen level.

No watermarks

No logos stamped on pages, no sign-up and no limit on the number of files.

Never worse

If compression does not help, you get the original back rather than a bigger file.

FAQ

Can I compress a PDF to 200 KB?

For 1–2 scanned pages or a text document, usually yes. Pick the maximum level and check the estimate. For 10 or more scanned pages, 200 KB is rarely reachable.

Will a 500 KB document still be readable?

Yes, text reads fine on screen. Small print in scans gets softer, so check the result before sending it.

Why is my two-page PDF so heavy?

It most likely contains scans or phone photos at full resolution, 3–5 MB per page. Compressing those images is where the savings come from.

Is 500 KB the same as 0.5 MB?

Roughly, yes. Some portals count 1 MB as 1000 KB and others as 1024 KB, so leave a little headroom.

Do I have to pay for strong compression?

No. Levels above 70 unlock after an optional short video. It is free and helps keep the site free.
